Profile bio

About Mathew Sletten

I didn’t set out to work in customer success, but it found me. And it makes sense now because when I host a BBQ, for example, I make sure to have everyone’s favorite drink, food, snack, and music at the ready. Need a chair, here you go…you’re cold, let me get a blanket…you're favorite cheeseburger topping is a second cheeseburger, no problem…I do this almost without thinking, and it’s a big part of how I get satisfaction and feel happy. So when I began working with clients directly and teaching them how to use a new product and understanding what they care about, what they like and what frustrates them, or what is irrelevant, I became captivated by how we could improve their experience with our products and relationship with our company. That fascination has lead me here.I am motivated by every terrible customer experience I’ve had and dedicated to developing customer experiences so businesses can flourish. Technology can be a great tool, but a great tool used efficiently without a human-centered purpose is not a great experience. As an accomplished leader at Xero, I developed an analytics dashboard to help our sales teams identify renewal and growth opportunities while also maintaining customer satisfaction. My vital strengths are curiosity, understanding problems, and analytical thinking. I consistently wonder “why?” and envision solutions. These traits are what drove me to learn some coding so that I could redesign our customer experience at Xero and Blackboard, improving the usability of our content by 66% and reducing tickets by 25%.A great team is essential to success, so I am adept at developing relationships within and outside the business that strengthen my ability to do good work. But it isn’t only about work, which is why when working with anyone, I always make sure to understand the humans involved in a personal way. Do what you say, right? So here are some personal interests of mine. I’m a big music and HiFi enthusiast (maybe I’m willful, but I’m a bit allergic to the term ‘audiophile’). My favorite days involve cooking a great meal while listening to a record (often Jazz or classic country) and enjoying a beer or glass of wine. But I’m never that far from a book either because I can just as easily pass an afternoon nosing through detective fiction or history. If you can find a better set of books than the Travis McGee series, I’ve got some ocean front property in Arizona for you.Specialties: analytical thinking, problem-solving, resourcefulness, persistence, consensus building, experimentation, curiosity

Listed skills include Academic Publishing, Content Management, Publishing, Content Development, and 18 others.
