My name is Matthew Drum and I hail from the greater Rochester, New York area. At Paychex, I was given the opportunity early in my career to begin team leadership. For about two years, I led teams through the development lifecycle successfully. In 2013, the Paychex IT department presented me the Rookie of the Year award for the successes on the projects I led. We underwent a culture shift from waterfall to an agile development lifecycle and have been growing ever since. I enjoy working on process improvement, continuous delivery, build automation, and learning new technologies. Throughout my career, I have grown to understand the importance of documentation and actually enjoy organizing confluence wiki pages on our processes now. From my experience so far, Paychex has invested in my career and has allowed me the freedom to grow. For my greater education, I attended Messiah College, just south of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. There I successfully received my Bachelor's of Arts in Computer Science with a minor in Psychology. I learned the importance of technology in our world and how I can better make a difference in the world both as a computer programmer and as a Christian. My Christian faith is very important to me and I desire to remain an active participant in the church and my surrounding community. Also, I hope to one day find a way to combine my two fields into one by studying the psychological effects of technology not only on individuals but also on groups of people as a whole.
