As team leader I'm building and maintaining a high performing Security group as well as driving for continuous improvement. I've become known as a subject matter expert and avail myself to the program to provide answers and see actions to resolution. I've been free to discover a path forward for my team, develop a unified response for the program, take the appropriate action, and continually look for opportunities to innovate. I work across divisions to ensure they were Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) ready, gathering non-Operating System (OS) scorecards, documentation information, and attending team meetings in other departments to address any security questions. I developed a training program with a positive can-do attitude, systematized the processes, and the team began to deliver on a new higher level of production. Myself and my team have implemented process improvement initiatives and began to use big picture thinking and technical acumen to automate repeatable tasks resulting in quicker delivery. I continue to focus on team development including a robust intern program by supporting the corporate relationship with Blue Ridge Community and Technical College in Martinsburg, WV. The expansion of the team has been built for full time employees and interns equally with the intention of hiring not just for the contract but for a career building with the company.

I trained new Security team members in the second half of 2019 to perform regular duties in a manner that upholds the integrity and reputation of the team. I also trained members of other departments in completing STIG checklists. I volunteered to provide this training because it was determined that I had the most knowledge of the subject matter and had developed the most efficient process. For much of 2019 I was the primary POC, contract-wide, for privileged user applications. I took on this role quickly and completely and improved the efficiency of communication and completion of applications. I assumed the role of primary Security team member in charge of coordinating updates to the operating system common to all servers in the USCG inventory. Executing the bi-weekly update process requires a high degree of knowledge in the subject matter and the various tools involved. Despite being new to the industry and the company I took on a significant amount of ground level tasks and trained new employees, which has allowed the Security-Lead to focus more on higher level concerns, improving the quality of her daily experience and the overall service of our department. When our department began completing STIG checklists I developed a process that cut the completion time of each Windows checklist down by 75%. Recognizing the need for a solution that would allow the project to overcome a deficit, I was able train other members of the Security team and other departments to duplicate my process.
