- Support the department’s legal and compliance functions to help ensure the organizations’ alignment with all laws, regulations, licenses and accreditations applicable to the wholesale distribution of prescription drugs and devices. - Support the maintenance of Direct Relief’s distributor licensing, creating and maintaining compliance documentation, assisting with quality improvement, and providing compliance audit and investigation support.- Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with import and export regulations, including customs, tariff codes, and embargoes.

- Support Direct Relief’s work with contracted warehouses worldwide, and will provide guidance concerning customs and documentation requirements for those international destinations. - Stay current on new rules and regulations concerning shipments, allowing for the uninterrupted flow through customs. - Ensure shipment documents are compliant with all countries, including the USA, import laws and regulations.- Work with Customs Agents and Partners to ease passage of shipments through customs. - Maintain a data base of each Country's requirements for ease of reference.- Oversees all phases of import or export Customs transactions, provides guidance for compliance regulations and policies/procedures and coordinates export licensing and requirements as it applies to a non-profit distributor with contracted warehouses worldwide.- Creates and maintains an import and export control database and tracking system for country specific laws, regulations and document requirements.- Develops, supports, administrates and implements export authorizations, customs compliance SOP’s/WI’s, and an effective import-export compliance program under Export Administration Regulations (EAR)- Assists in the preparation of customs documentation.- Builds relationships with country specific Partners, Forwarders and Customs contacts to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted flow of goods- Advises or assists in the creation of the proper documentation required for inbound customs clearance.- Keeps up to date on current laws and regulations regarding exporting and importing to/from various countries.- Provide guidance on Harmonized System (HS) codes, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and Schedule B codes.- Support various teams in analyzing and recommending process improvements and corrective actions to ensure an uninterrupted shipment of product globally.

Responsible for ensuring export activities are in full compliance with all applicable export regulations. Supported company personnel on the application of U.S. Government export/import regulations including, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations.Major job duties and responsibilities include:- Review all products being exported and provides all pertinent trade information required to be in full compliance with all applicable regulatory trade requirements.- Serve as the subject matter expert for export related inquiries from internal & external customers, third party service providers, including Customs Brokers, Bureau of Industry and Security, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), US Customs and Border Protection Regulations.- Provide assistance on other governmental agency requirements, e.g. CWC, DEA, FDA, EPA, FCC, F&W, embargoes, red flag issues, and other license, permit, and certification requirements.- Assist in providing guidance concerning the requirements and obligations of exporting under ITAR, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other US and non US export laws and requirements.- Prepare and monitors license applications and other requests for approval to the US Dept. of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security via SNAP-R.- Update SAP and database on a continual basis.- Obtain & maintain export records and other trade related documents, certifications, and licenses.- Update and maintains export control policies and procedures.- Keep company appraised of new or modified government regulations.- Conduct internal audits to ensure the company remains in compliance with all applicable export regulations.- Work with the managers to identify and develop global work processes for exports into their respective areas.
