The main purpose of the Military and Veteran Outreach Program is to increase the visibility of the Hope For The Warriors® programs being offered to veterans, service members, caregivers and military families in their communities. We are our “forward deployed” staff and serve as the connectors between military families, the local communities and Hope For The Warriors program staff. In this frontline position, we serve a critical role as ambassador and liaison to military bases, civic and other veteran non-profit organizations, chambers of commerce, and local government agencies, and must be a visible and active presence in each.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Manage relationships with a case load of service members and veterans in local community/regional area.• Recruit service members, veterans and family member participants for local/regional event opportunities.• Provide overview of all H4W programs and services as applicable to the client.• Assist fellow H4W Well Being program staff from Transition Services, Sports & Recreation and ClinicalHealth & Wellness through recruitment and event support to increase the number of active participantsand supporters attending outreach events, workshops, and programs throughout the region.• Regional military outreach: increase outreach, assess the community’s needs, and refer to the appropriateH4W program contact. This includes involvement with area VA systems, regional veteran community events, and additional supporting agencies and nonprofit organizations, as well as attendance and participation in military outreach events.• In coordination with the Vice President of Development and Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, support current corporate partners as needed or directed and, in the course of normal duties, provide information to Development on potential new corporate partners.• Track and refer potential participants using standard Hope For The Warriors operating procedures (SOPs).

o Directly supervises staff assigned to the Battalion. o Mentors and provides leadership, technical advice and administrative guidance and instructions regarding programs, objectives, policies, procedures, mission analysis, course of action, problem solving and coordination of administrative activities. o Identifies training and development needs, establishes training plans, and provides formal and informal training as required. o Responsible for the command's Antiterrorism, Force Protection and Physical Security AT/FP/PS Programs. o Provides program guidance and sets goals and objectives for the AT/FP of the Battalion.o Overall responsible for reviewing, revising, publishing and executing the Commander's Critical Information Requirements, Serious Incident Reports, the command All Hazard Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan. o Provides pre and post-disaster updates to the chain of command as required.

Controlled platoon in mounted and dismounted operations. Assisted in planning, directing, training, and coordinating activities of multiple subordinate elements. Provided tactical and technical guidance to subordinates and superiors in the accomplishment of their duties. Evaluated all exercises and missions for safety utilizing the Army Composite Risk Management System.- Awarded the Bronze Star (2nd award), the Army’s 4th highest award for excellence in combat.- Planned, conducted, and supervised over 150 joint combat missions in Eastern Afghanistan, 60 of which involved personal security detail and inner cordon security for commanders during Key Leader Engagements.- Supervised the accountability, maintenance and readiness of over $15 million worth of military equipment. - Served as the company Field Ordering Officer; responsible for $20,000 per month used to stimulate the local Afghan economy through projects and supply purchases.- Served on Iowa National Guard Reaction Force; responsible for coordination with State and local law enforcement agencies during times of civil disturbance, natural disasters, and other states of emergency

Senior Non-Commissioned Officer for a team of Tactical Observer/Trainers. Supervised daily operations in preparation for, during training, and after units attend training at the National Maintenance Training Center.
