About Matt Kolker
I’m a Business Analyst driven to solve, design and implement the most efficient and effective applications and processes. Continually developing project specific expertise while effectively communicating between the business and developers to provide what is needed, not just wanted.Currently, I am an Operations Analyst at Wells Fargo, where I collaborate with departments all across the company to implement critical, high priority applications providing next level customer service. My Specialties: data analysis, data management, user-acceptance testing, business process development, technical communication, and development testing and implementation.Mindset:Throughout my life the notion of “Follow Your Passion” had been engraved into me by my parents, teachers, professionals and peers. Upon graduating from college as I stepped into the “real world”, I realized I didn’t have something to identify as my undying passion.I continued forward going through the motion of getting a job and working hard, but I never felt like it was my passion as everyone had been telling me to follow. For the next couple years, I felt like I was doing something wrong, felt like I was lost, and it had me in a negative career mindset.Through self-reflection and my pursuit for different perspectives I stumbled across the Tim Ferris Podcast with Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs guy). It was an amazing podcast with many great takeaways, but the part that opened my eyes was Mike’s thought on passion. Mike mentioned not to follow your passion, but to take your passion with you and seek opportunity. This statement significantly altered my mindset and perspective. I interpreted it as: doing the best I could at whatever I was doing, seek and take opportunity as success is achieved, and develop your passion as you go. I feel few find their passion right away, and the majority need time to develop it, which is perfectly ok.
