Since many of my students were juggling part-time or full-time jobs in addition to their classes, I devised a kind of hybrid course to help them meet my requirements. Since many of my students were juggling part-time or full-time jobs in addition to their classes, I devised a kind of hybrid course to help them meet my requirements. The course was essentially a combination of traditional in-class instruction and self-guided online tutorials. Using the Blackboard platform, I designed the first such "hybrid" that Lord Fairfax Community College had ever had. The result of my innovative curriculum was that my students felt equipped to meet class requirements even if they had to miss some classes. They also gained confidence in their own ability to teach themselves and to make use of online resources. Show less
