About Mauricio Barrera

A passionate designer and environmental advocate. Since 2001 I have been involved with sustainable development. From 2003 to 2006 I attended Miami University and obtained my master's in architecture with emphasis in sustainable design. In 2008 I moved to South America as a freelance architect where I advise companies that develop residential and commercial projects on how to achieve sustainable projects. In those 14 years, I advised 49 projects from hospitals, strip malls, shopping centers, universities, office buildings, private buildings, residential units, and warehouses. More than 4.9 million square feet of area that included smart lighting, eco-friendly materials, water-saving systems, energy efficiency, construction material efficiency, reduced waste, less global warming impact, and better footprints. designed several residential, commercial, and agricultural projects which include: 1 warehouse, 1 office building, 3 single-family homes, 3 agricultural projects, 3 Restaurants, 2 urban planning designs for residential subdivisions, and 1 FIA certified level 1 race track facility.
