Mr. McHugh counsels clients in a wide range of business transactions for companies of all sizes, both public and private, in general focusing on Commercial Real Estate; Corporate Governance, Commercial Transactions, Joint Ventures, and Complex Commercial Contracts.He has expertise in commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, finance, and the management and leasing of retail, office, industrial and multi-family residential properties, as well as significant experience in forming private equity partnerships for investment in real property acquisitions and development.He also has extensive experience with general corporate law and business transactions (including sales, licensing, services and related commercial contracts).In addition to his legal practice, Mr. McHugh was a co-founder and principal of North Point Energy Solutions. North Point provided strategic consulting services to clients in the renewable energy and energy efficiency markets (with a focus on project site selection; negotiating site control agreements; regulatory compliance; utility program compliance and bidding strategies; and related issues in connection with the development and financing of renewable power projects). Prior to co-founding North Point, Mr. McHugh was a principal of, and corporate counsel for, a California based private commercial real estate investment company which provided capital to commercial real estate projects in the western United States. 

Mr. McHugh spent ten years practicing law with the law firm of Thelen Reid and Priest LLP in San Francisco, CA. He graduated with a major in Economics and a minor in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley and cum laude from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Mr. McHugh is an active member of the California Bar Association and is a licensed Real Estate Broker with the CA Department of Real Estate.
