Note: Please do not reach out with any opportunities involving crypto/blockchain, I'm not interested and you'll be wasting your time waiting for a reply which will be negative, no exceptions.Another note: I very rarely visit LinkedIn, so if you're not ready for your message to be unseen for potentially months, it's better to email.Software engineer, employed in IT since 2004, learning something new every day. I have years of experience almost anywhere -- backend, frontend, infrastructure and the cloud, leading teams, you name it.I love challenging tasks, admire good UI and UX and can see a product as the user sees it - which is often not as the programmer thinks the user does! I am sure the attention to detail is one of the key things in anything the humanity does, and software is no exception.

Senior EngineerWise Jul 2015 - Jun 2022Tallinn / BudapestHoo boy, it won't be easy to summarise the fun times over the last six-something years in merely 2000 characters. But let's try.I joined Wise (then TransferWise) in 2015, starting as a full stack engineer in the verification team, where I've implemented the first automated ID verification solution, which is still in use and is processing tens of thousands of documents every day today. Next, I set my sights on improving the build and release pipelines. I've tidied up our existing Jenkins setup, took over the internal release tooling and implemented one-click releases for both backend and frontend services, a task which previously required careful manual deployments by the infrastructure engineers with production access. Afterwards, I've led the migration of our CI projects to a CircleCI instance.Later, I've conceived and, together with the Delivery Tooling team I've been leading at this point, implemented the first iteration of our one-click cloud development environments, called Custom Environments. I've also wrote a blog post about it which was featured in The New Stack: https://thenewstack.io/from-laptop-to-cloud-to-kubernetes/.I was one of the instrumental people behind our AWS and Kubernetes migration, both setting up the infrastructure, setting up the clusters and working with the product developers to help them migrate their services to our new setup. In 2019 I've moved to our Budapest office, where I helped the local Platform team members to get up to speed, as well as being an individual contributor for our SRE and service platform teams. In late 2020 I went back to Tallinn where I'm currently located too.By fall 2021, I have accomplished all I wanted within platform, so I've moved to the GBP team where I currently am working as a full-stack developer, having come full circle.Besides all that, I've conducted countless interviews, have hired (and, sadly, let go) people, and had many a nice joke posted in our Slack channels. -
Software EngineerAnimatron Jun 2014 - Jul 2015Lviv, Ukraine / RemoteAnimatron is a simple and powerful online tool that allows you to create stunning HTML5 animations and interactive content. There are three essential parts to Animatron - the website, the animation editor itself and the player. I'm in charge of the latter (and you can see my code here: https://github.com/Animatron/player).Some of the things I did: ✓ Optimized player performance and made it at least twice as fast;✓ Rewrote the player from a single huge Javascript file to a nice Browserify-based bundle, splitting the functionality into logical blocks;✓ Ensured backwards compatibility for any browser that supports HTML5 canvas, including IE9;✓ Implemented support for custom webfonts, color tweens and many more.
