Associate Program Manager, Americas Benefits
Benefits Coordinator
In this role, I supported Workday’s North America benefits team in administering the company’s insurance and 401k plans, in addition to monitoring the workers compensation and leave processes. My work involved facilitating employees’ benefits enrollment in Workday, answering complex plan questions, educating employees on the plans offered, and collaborating with both vendors and internal teams on enrollment accuracy and escalations. I really enjoy public speaking and educating; as a result, I also took on the responsibility of presenting our benefits program at new hire orientation, and developing and distributing internal communications and updates to employees. Additionally, my enthusiasm for educating and presenting led to work on special projects, such as updating and creating presentations for the team.
Hr Generalist
I supported Martindale-Nolo's Berkeley, Pleasanton, and Chicago employees with onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and culture initiatives. My responsibilities varied from day-to-day, so being resourceful, prioritizing tasks and using critical thinking skills to problem solve was paramount. For example, some days I would work with management and employees on conflict resolution, where other days I would work with the Social Committee on coordinating an employee appreciation activity. There was a high level of autonomy in this role, especially since the main Human Resources team was based out of our parent company's headquarters in Los Angeles. As a result, in order to ensure labor law compliance, I frequently relayed information to that office, in addition to meeting weekly with our VP of Human Resources regarding company needs, escalations, and strategy.
Junior Recruiter
As a Junior Recruiter, I was responsible for full-cycle recruitment for Nolo's legal content and corporate teams. Depending on the role, candidates could be Bay Area locals or live in different parts of the country; therefore, it was my job to organize outreach and manage the hiring process for all qualified and talented individuals.Since the recruiting team is based in Los Angeles, as an off-site recruiter, my ability to communicate regularly and effectively was a key to success. I accomplished this by organizing meetings, sending recruiting and hiring reports, and staying current with hiring managers' needs across all locations.
Stylist
Hr Assistant (Temp)
As an HR Assistant, I coordinated employee benefits, legal, and financial documents, as well as executed any administrative tasks that needed completion for the Global HR department. This included processing and auditing I-9's, COBRA, 401K and new hire onboarding documents. Additionally, when there was overflow from Talent Acquisition, I supported the team by communicating with candidates, scheduling interviews and conducting reference calls. One of my first projects at ICANN was streamlining and updating the physical filing system for its 350+ worldwide employees, so that its contents would coincide with the digital system. However, given the volume of requests, changes, and communication received by the HR department, once the system was current, I performed updates on a daily basis in order to keep it organized. In my role, I also had the opportunity to collaborate with our Global Compensation and Organizational Development teams on special research and analysis projects (as assigned). For example, in preparation for semi-annual performance reviews, I researched international compensation trends and utilized Excel to calculate inflation rates for Global Compensation. With Organizational Development, I analyzed and summarized Employee Climate Survey results into a presentation.
Southern California - Admissions Officer (Temp)
As an Admissions Officer, I recruited, educated, and advised prospective undergraduate students on the application and admissions process for UC Merced and the UC system. This involved speaking at over 8 weekly classroom presentations and college fairs, where I would interact with anywhere from 5 to 300+ people per event. Quickly fostering rapport with students and parents was essential to this process. By building trust and being sensitive to families' questions/concerns about admission requirements, I ensured that they got all information and resources necessary for success. This position was regional, so I telecommuted, responded to a high volume of daily emails, maintained regular communication with the main admissions office in Merced, and contributed to bi-weekly team meetings concerning team goals and strategies.
Customer Care Specialist
As a Customer Care Specialist, I executed banking requests for all First Republic Bank clientele (both internal and external) over the phone. Given the variety of questions and requests I received on a daily basis, I was responsible for anything from delivering account information, performing account updates and card maintenance, to completing monetary transactions. Prioritizing client confidentiality and account security, while providing the highest level of customer service, was essential at all times. Additionally, collaboration was very important, since our team frequently worked with other departments in order to process client requests.
Student Manager
Oversaw daily store operations and customer service interactions, and acted as the liaison between upper management and the Marketplace team (40 student staff members). At the time I was hired, Dining Services executive management was looking to revamp the training and hiring process; therefore, the majority of my work involved recruiting and hiring staff (department-wide), as well as creating and implementing a new training manual for the store. In collaboration with two fellow student managers, I recruited, oversaw hiring and on-boarding processes, and individually organized training for over 20 new employees in four months. To maintain organization I used Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar when coordinating student candidate appointments, and then reported hiring and store progress at Dining Services management meetings.
Student Supervisor
In this role, I expanded the skills I had learned as an associate and applied them in a management role. Additionally, I learned new administrative skills such as how to process daily merchandise orders, complete/log invoices, etc.On a day-to-day basis, I supervised shift changes, transactions, cash handling, and customer service. One of my biggest priorities was to delegate tasks and ensure that they were done on time in order to keep the store running smoothly. Communication was key.
Student Associate
As an associate I learned all stocking and cashiering procedures for the store, and was responsible for assisting customers with purchases, proper cash handling of register, and counting-in/out. Through learning as much as possible about the Marketplace, and showing my interest and leadership potential, I was fortunate enough to quickly earn a promotion to a role as a student supervisor.
Business Manager
As Business Manager, I managed The Prodigy's finances, created and presented fiscal reports to the executive board, managed business client relationships, and oversaw ad sales for the newspaper. On a weekly basis, I completed insertion orders and worked closely with the university to administer the publication's bi-weekly purchase orders. I also coordinated the staff's bi-annual travel budget, and made all arrangements for lodging and transportation
Intern
- Researched potential clientele and developed new business contact spreadsheets, executed business outreach for collaborative work, and managed company's social media platforms-Established and maintained the company blog on Blogspot, researched, developed, and wrote about relevant industry novelties for editorial content on weekly basis-Participated in weekly company conference call with owners to check on blog and social media traffic, company special events, in alignment with company goals and strategies
