As a research professional in Dr. Norris' lab I process hazardous biological materials that are used in data gathering and analysis. In this lab I have had the privilege of working on both in vitro and in vivo studies in mycology, virology, and immunology. Some of the tasks that I am proficient in include T-cell isolation from whole blood samples, BAL cytospin analysis, protein purification, protein analysis via gel electrophoresis, ELISAs and ELISpot assays, cell culturing, viral propagation, and viral titer quantification.

Working for SP2 Hospitality at a number of their locations has given me invaluable experience in customer service by being able to work at several different levels within the restaurant industry. Bartending on and off at The Root in Athens for 5 years has improved my time management, problem solving, and communication skills. Working in an environment that can change with each shift is an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience that has taught me to embrace obstacles and think on my feet, which has benefited me in many other aspects of life.

Watkinsville, Ga

At the age of 23 I was promoted to become the general manager of the Pub on Main in Watkinsville, GA, where I was in charge of the 20-25 person front and back of house staff for full lunch and dinner service. I worked closely with the owner and local alcohol reps to promote product sales and inspire customer curiosity for local businesses. Along with coordinating musical acts and charity events hosted at the restaurant, I was put in charge of the day to day decision making and running of the restaurant.

Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area

While working at Southpoint I was responsible for the dogs and cats we had boarding with us by feeding them, exercising them, and administering any medication the pets might need. I also assisted the doctors and technicians with dental procedures, some surgeries, x-rays, drawing blood, giving shots, and interpreting blood and urine tests. During this time I also assisted the nursing staff by calling clients back and answering any questions they might have about their pets post veterinary visit.
