In May 2019, I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a dual Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. Shortly after graduation, I set out to obtain my Master's Degree in Education with a focus on Literacy and became a certified Reading Specialist. On top of spending many hours studying and researching, I served as a Literacy Graduate Assistant within the Indiana Area School District. My responsibilities as a GA included administering beginning, middle, and end-of-year assessments and then using the data to form small groups and implement research-based interventions relevant to students' ability levels. I learned that cross-team collaboration and flexibility are crucial skills needed when working in any environment. After receiving my master's degree, I worked for the Indiana Area School District as a long-term substitute teacher for the 2020-2021 academic year. My school year was quite different compared to other classroom teachers. I began the year teaching first and second grade online following an asynchronous learning model and maintained a caseload of nearly 50 students. Later in the school year, I transitioned to teaching kindergarten in person and completed my first year of teaching. In addition to my background in education, I have ten years of experience in customer service, retail, and reception and administrative positions. While receiving my bachelor's degree, I worked for the university's philanthropy department and within the dorm offices. Outside of campus life, I worked as a receptionist for a local Gastroenterologist and was responsible for scheduling patients and procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and instructing patients on procedure preparation. I also communicated with other medical offices and pharmaceutical representatives. From 2019-2022, I worked for Starbucks Coffee Company as a barista. My years of experience have allowed me to meet and collaborate with individuals from different backgrounds and acquire numerous skills that I look forward to utilizing in future opportunities.
