• Conducted research in UDC Center for Biomechanical and Rehabilitation Engineering (CBRE) lab to investigate: 1) athletebalance and 2) elderly posture and balance• Assisted in a study entitled, Studying the effects of athletic training on postural control (IRB Protocol # 540869-1), whichdetermined the effects of athletic activity on balance in 36 collegiate athlete and non-athlete participants: 1) males = 12 soccerplayers, 3 tennis players, and 12 non-athletes; 2) females = 3 tennis players, 3 track athletes, and 3 non-athletes• Responsibilities included acquiring Tekscan Forceplate data (used to assess balance) & recruiting participants• Assisted in an on-going elderly balance study entitled, Investigating a new Generation of Assistive Innovative Technologies(GAIT) for balance rehabilitation (IRB Protocol # 979744-1), which determines the effects of NaviGAITor partial bodyweightsupport and touch cues on elderly participant (i.e., stroke survivors and healthy controls) balance and posture• Currently, 65 individuals have expressed an interest in participating and the study is on-going; To date, trained 27 participantstowards improving their balance using walking & standing exercises, over a 5-7 week cycle, 2-3 sessions each per week• Assessed each participant’s balance and posture every 2 weeks via the following: Activities Specific Balance Confidence (ABC)survey data & Balance Error Scoring System, or BESS (standard assessments), Vicon motion capture (to measure bodymovements), surface electromyography (to measure muscle activity), Tekscan Forceplate walkway (to measure forces andshifts in center of pressure during standing and walking)
