Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. We are the largest national organization dedicated to this unique population – supporting children with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community. As a member of Kesem National's Operations team, I oversee the North East Region while supervising and supporting chapters based in Maryland, and New York.Responsibilities IncludedManaged and provided leadership to nine local Kesem chapters affiliated with universities and colleges, overseeing the recruitment of Directors and coordinators for each chapter to drive yearly operations.Empowered Directors to hire and lead a team of 18 coordinators each, resulting in over 160 direct reportsLed volunteer recruitment and fundraising efforts, which generated annual funds of over $690,000 while consistently increasing year-to-year fundraisingManaged and directed the regional reports of donors, including individual donors, institutional funding, grant management, stewardship, and donor engagementDesigned and delivered training focused on volunteer roles, fundraising, recruitment, and outreachActively participated as a member of Kesem's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, advocating for Kesem to become an organizational leader in DEI work by exploring how heritage months and holidays align with our missionOrganized and led monthly affinity group meetings for children who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), creating a supportive environment for them to connect with peers of similar ethnic and racial backgroundsSpearheaded the integration of DEI initiatives into our daily operations including developing and conducting DEI trainings aimed at enhancing our abilities to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identifying and mitigating our own implicit biases
