About Melanie Morris

I am Associate Dean for Education for the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health and Online Training Lead for the NIHR-funded programme: IHCoR-Africa Improving Hypertension Control in Rural Africa. My career reflects my desire to impact positively on the health and well-being of the population, and to train the next generation of researchers. As well as my capacity for innovation, designing and managing multi-faceted projects, and understanding and interpreting data, I am a natural organiser and facilitator. I have extensive experience with complex projects, and have worked on ways to influence understanding, behaviour and policy to make positive changes for the greatest number of people. I have developed and undertaken the training, over a range of courses and programmes, of thousands of students. Most of them join these programmes as mature professionals, bringing their own experiences and expectations. I oversee 14 intensive and distance learning programmes within the Faculty, as well as around 20 short courses. I am trusted by colleagues to consult them as well as support them, and by managers to work independently and to organise others. I step up to take responsibility, undertaking leading roles in day-to-day work, in the wider research community, and beyond. I am a solution-driven problem-solver: it is important to me that things get done, on time and with a clarity that others can easily appreciate.
