Senior District Records Technician
Records logistics and maintenance specialist: archive, index, maintain, and retrieve records for all requests for information. 911 Emergency Dispatcher
As a 911 Dispatcher, I used a computer-aided dispatch system to receive incoming emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical or other emergency services. I used my acquired training and experience to determine the number and type of emergency units to dispatch to the scene and I apply procedural guidelines established by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. I maintained contact with all units on assignment to ensure I have current status and location in making decisions. For each incoming phone call I entered, updated, and retrieved information from a variety of computer systems and responded within seconds to requests from the units on duty for information such as vehicle registration, driving record and warrants. I observed protocols to safeguard the privacy of information and HIPAA. I worked with a shift team of 2-5 Call Takers and Dispatchers to respond to six emergency lines and eight non-emergency lines. I took non-emergency calls from citizens in need of Information and Referral. I created a written reference of frequently needed agency information and contact data to meet this need most efficiently. I managed call time with active listening methods to respond to callers with compassion and still meet the multiple streams of radio and phone traffic. When I left The Center we were operating at 60% staffing and still meeting all job requirements. I entered data on missing persons, stolen property, and wanted persons to the Georgia Crime Information Center. I continually monitored several complex public safety radio frequencies and operated a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems.
