I currently work for Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga as a Visitor Services Co-Ordinator Kaiwhakamanuhiri Matua for Highwic and Ewelme Cottage. In this role, I assist the Auckland Properties Lead to enhance the visitor experience, while ensuring that the conservation and maintenance of the properties and collections are maintained to the highest standards.Working collaboratively with other staff within the Auckland Properties Team, I have been involved in the development and implementation of a programme of public engagement. I have also optimised the in-person visitor experience through the creation of room guides, and guided tours. Futhermore, I have created an engaging and informative online presence via our social media platforms. This role has a focus on managing Highwic as a function hire venue, which requires taking and managing bookings, and liasing with clients and vendors. My ability to establish and maintain professional relationships has been essential to the smooth running of functions, particularly within a heritage environment. I am also responsible for the training, and day-to-day management, of our team of Casual Visitor Hosts and Volunteers. Learning how to efficiently train staff, effectively communicate with them, and ensure that they feel involved and valued, has been of particular importance for this role.

In this role I was responsible for managing a team of Visitor Services Co-ordinators, a Senior Conservation Technician, and a large group of Casual Visitor Hosts and Volunteers, across three heritage properties in Auckland.

I was seconded to the role of Acting Property Lead Pompallier Mission and Printery in Russell, Northland, New Zealand, in order to the cover the annual leave of the Property Lead. In this role I was responsible for managing a large team of Visitor Hosts, café staff, and the Visitor Services Co-Ordinator at a busy heritage site.

At Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira I was a Project Collection Technician - Published Collections in the Information, Library, and Enquiry Services Team. My role involved assessing the books and serials which had been donated or bequeathed to the museum, and then using the Museum's Collection Policy I determined whether the items fit within the Museum's established collection. If they did not, they were then deaccessioned and offered to other institutions.

Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand

Whilst writing my Honours Dissertation on the importance of Putaringamotu Riccarton Bush to the beginnings of the city of Christchurch, I was given the opportunity to work as a Heritage Guide at Riccarton House. My main responsibility in this role was to lead a one-hour tour of the historic house for local, national and international visitors.
