Profile bio

About Melody Johnson

For over 30 years, I have been involved in the hospitality industry. This includes owning and operating a very successful full service country inn - Falcon's Crest on Mt. Hood. For two years running, we were named "Best Evening Cuisine", an international award. As the 'unofficial' tour guide and hostess for media that visited on Mt. Hood, my talents were soon tapped by the Lewis and Clark River Boat cruises, and I became director of their overnight excursions. From there, I moved into the position of Manager of the tour department for RAZ transportation and Gray Line of Portland. Erik Wolf and I have known each other since his arrival to Oregon, and I had the pleasure of serving as a founder on the first Culinary Tourism Board of Directors. It seemed only natural that I would eventually work for him in many capacities before finally landing as his Community Manager, building the Association and educating others on the attributes of Culinary Tourism. Having served on many boards including Travel Portland, Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory, Oregon Lodging Association, Ski Oregon, OTTA, and others, I took that experience and put it to good work by retaining the Corporation name after selling the structure that housed the Inn for 20 years, and became a consultant to small DMO's (Destination Management Organizations) that are interested in developing or strengthening their tourism and/or Package Travel Program.Because of the work with the DMO's located in the Northwest, it gave us the capability to design and execute tours for groups. We currently work with pre-formed groups such as conference attendees, SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious and Fraternal) groups in providing them experiential tours showcasing the West. These tours will soon be open to the consumers.Specialties: Public speaker on culinary tourism, package travel, tourism trends and developing creative marketing strategies in relation to package travel and culinary tourism.

Listed skills include Tourism, Marketing, Event Planning, Marketing Strategy, and 59 others.
