Melody, originally from the Venezuelan Andes, moved to Savannah 29 years ago to pursue her undergrad at Armstrong State University. She later earned a Masters in Education and Human Resources from Armstrong and a Doctorate in Leadership from Valdosta State University. For 15 years at Armstrong, she founded and spearheaded the HOLA and CAMINO Programs, pioneering Latino-serving initiatives replicated nationwide. Transitioning to entrepreneurship in 2013, she founded seven successful Mexican and Cuban restaurants, acclaimed as Best in Savannah. Her focus shifted to corporate development, branding & marketing, and real estate transactions. Committed to lifelong learning, Melody values integrity and community service, volunteering for organizations like the Coastal Georgia YMCA Board, Savannah Jazz Festival and the Chatham Commerce Club. In 2022, she co-founded Compasión en Acción, a non-profit that assists abandoned women and children in Guatemala. A passionate traveler and pescatarian foodie, she enjoys family time and engaging in real estate discussions to encourage clients to "build multi-generational wealth through real estate investing". Fluent in English and Spanish, Melody has received numerous awards, including Georgia Trend’s 40 under 40 (2007) a recognition from the White House Initiative for Hispanics in Higher Education (2013), New E&V Savannah Advisor of the Year (2022), E&V Savannah Top Producer of 2023, and in 2024 the Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR®) designation and Home Finance Resource certificate (HFR®) from the National Association of Realtors.

Director & Founder, Hispanic Outreach & Leadership (Hola) And Camino ProgramsArmstrong Atlantic State University Apr 2001 - Jun 2014Savannah, Georgia AreaSummary of accomplishments:Armstrong’s success in advancing Latino education in Georgia goes back to 2003, when under my leadership, the university established the HOLA (Hispanic Outreach and Leadership at Armstrong) program to provide a comprehensive Latino outreach, recruitment, progression and graduation initiative on campus. I authored three grants from The Goizueta Foundation in Atlanta to support Armstrong’s HOLA program, totaling more than $1.9 million from 2003-2011. As a result we were invited to submit a proposal to Lumina Foundation to establish CAMINO in 2011- a Latino Student Success community in Savannah that has connected 11 organizations to serve the emerging Hispanic/Latino community. Lumina awarded our partnership $600,000 to start this effort, reaping many more success stories and the creation of Savannah State University's SOMOS Program and Savannah Technical College's HOLA Programs. During these thirteen years, I enjoyed seeing the following results from my investment and leadership:o created HOLA, a comprehensive Hispanic/Latino outreach program recognized by Excelencia in Education in 2008 as Example of Excelencia;o recruited Hispanic/Latino prospects from across the state of Georgia, South Carolina and Florida, o awarded more than 160 Goizueta Foundation Scholarships to Hispanic/Latino students who averaged higher than 3.5 GPA;o retained Hispanic/Latinos at a 72% rate, compared to the national 57% average for 4-year institutions;o increased the enrollment of Hispanic/Latino students by 200% since 2003 (over 11 years of work) to its current 7% of the entire student body, or 476 H/L students;o increased graduation rates of Hispanic/Latino students to 39.39%, or 11.24% above the average Armstrong graduation rate of 28.15%;o contributed to a significant increase of degrees conferred by Armstrong to Hispanic/Latino students. -
