Managed Ambrosia (the lifestyle imprint) and Spiderline (the crime fiction imprint) and developed both fiction and non-fiction book projects. Responsibilities included performing various levels of editorial work on full manuscripts from the initial substantive edit to the line edit, developing book covers and interior looks with designers, and supervising the development of entire books. Also responsible for pitching potential authors, conceiving of book ideas, overseeing a portion of the international buy-ins (modifying content and covers for the Canadian market), working with the editorial team to determine national and international book acquisitions, general copyediting and proofreading, and managing reprints and the Anansi Book Club Editions. Participated in all stages of the book production process from when an author is signed to the time a book is released. Responsibilities included editing books and a wide array of materials ranging from catalogues to readers’ guides to promotional material, writing reader’s reports and book copy, managing reprints and the unsolicited manuscripts, developing book projects, creating photo inserts (including photo selection), reviewing submissions from literary agents, proofreading, liaisoning with authors and potential authors around the world, and providing administrative support for the two major Canadian book publishers.

Compiled core and rich bibliographic data to be used primarily for the website from a variety of different sources. Responsible for generating bibliographic data reports and identifying missing data. Performed various audits to verify accuracy and logged promotional assets in a centralized database.
