Highlights: Sara Alert - Partner Engagement (2020-21)- MITRE-developed software - funded by the CDC - designed to automate contact monitoring of individuals exposed to / infected with COVID. I structured and facilitated weekly calls with public health departments across the country to provide updates and an opportunity for participants to connect with each other. - Interviewed senior leaders of ASTHO, CSTE, NACCHO, and the CDC Foundation to learn what would be needed for Sara Alert's sustainability- Ultimately, Sara Alert had a strong foundation of user-support and was well positioned to transition to other diseases post-COVID.MDIAS (Medical Device Information and Analysis Sharing) - Data and Analytics Team Lead (2022)- MDIAS is a public-private partnership between the FDA and medical device manufacturers, with the goal of improving patient safety and device quality. I co-led a 10 person team to develop analytic studies that demonstrate this partnership's value. - Coordinated with other team leads and FDA to ensure all parties were aligned, which was critical in this early stage partnership. Tabletop Exercise Lead- Developed and facilitated tabletop exercises to test organizations' incident response plans. As a result, each organization identified areas to strengthen and improved cross-team communication. Individual and Group Mentor - Developed mentoring course on how to expand one's professional network and taught it over a dozen times. Course is being integrated into MITRE's Early Career Development Program- Met with dozens of individuals looking for mentoring on career direction, work/life balance, and conflict resolution.- Co-led MITRE's Network for Professional Women and Allies, where employees met about monthly to share professional experiences and challenges, discuss books and articles, learn how to advocate for themselves, and connect with senior leaders. - Frequent speaker on panels for students and early career professionals.

Highlights:Ebola Expert Panel - organizer- During the 2014 Ebola epidemic, worked with senior MITRE leaders to rapidly convene a national panel of Ebola disease experts to develop new clinical guidelines to improve Ebola survival. This panel included representatives from the US government (FDA, ASPR, DARPA, CDC), Doctors Without Borders, the World Health Organization, hospitals, and research institutions. - This panel discussion resulted in immediate actions implemented by on-the-ground responders in West AfricaApplied researcher - Conducted several government-oriented, MITRE-funded multi-disciplinary research projects - Persistent Health Assessment Tools (PHAT) - principal investigator of a team that developed a model for predicting state obesity rates from sets of tweets and a dashboard to provide interactive navigation (2012-13) Presented at 2014 International Society of Disease Surveillance conference. - TranScript - co-principal investigator of a team that developed an annotation and modeling schema for prescription instructions that used natural language processing to identify discrepancies between structured and free text fields (2011-2012) - Measuring Preparedness - interviewed FEMA Region 1 employees and led brainstorming sessions to identify ways to quantify risk and measure preparedness. (2010-2011)Presented at 2012 IEEE Homeland Security Technologies conference - Digital Pen - designed and conducted experiments to field test a form for emergency medical technicians to collect patient data using a digital pen (2009) - Emergency Preparedness and Response Cognitions - drafted a survey distributed to a national sample to understand how the public would feel about (and presumably respond to) government guidance in the event of a pandemic (2008-2009)
