CurrentAs the Director of Artistic Administration in an opera company, playing a critical role in managing various aspects of artistic operations and supporting the overall artistic vision of the organization. My key responsibilities include the following:● Artistic Planning: Collaborating with the General and Artistic Directors to develop the artistic vision, select repertoire, and plan future productions and seasons.● Casting and Talent Scouting: Researching, proposing, and tracking casting for productions, negotiating contracts with agents and artists, and scouting new talent for future roles and young artist programs.● Budget Management: Overseeing and managing the budgets for the Artistic, Music, and Young Artist departments, including analyzing, reporting, and forecasting budgetary needs and ensuring financial stability.● Contract Administration: Managing contracts, tax, and payment management for artists and staff, ensuring compliance with union regulations (such as AFM and AGMA), and handling pension, health & welfare, and digital media documentation.● Artist Relations: Maintaining strong relationships with artists, agents, and other industry professionals, providing support and services as needed.● Departmental Logistics: Coordinating various logistics, such as travel, housing, scheduling, and visas, for artists, staff, and guest artists. This may also involve overseeing other personnel, such as Artistic Associates, Chorus and Orchestra Managers, Librarians, and Orchestra Personnel Managers.● Compliance and Permissions: Ensuring the organization complies with union guidelines and regulations, obtaining performance and digital copyright permissions, and negotiating future commission agreements.● Program Administration: Managing and supporting young artist development programs, organizing auditions, masterclasses, and coaching sessions, and handling associated logistics.
