I have spent the past 15 years working in some of the highest-performing charter school organizations across the country. Most recently, I served as the Regional Superintendent at Achievement First, overseeing 4 middle schools in NY and CT responsible for over 1,500 5th through 8th graders. While Regional Superintendent, I led the Covid reopening strategy for the middle school cohort, improved teacher retention to 87%, and led a 28% increase in adult culture metrics for the Connecticut region, with 85% favorability on the Gallup Employee Satisfaction Survey. During my time as Principal at AF Apollo MS, math and ELA proficiency rates improved 38% and 44% respectively, outperforming state non low income averages by more than 10%.I am a leader who places racial equity at the forefront of his work. During my tenure at Achievement First, I co-led efforts to diversify the racial makeup of school leadership teams by prioritizing the need to attract and promote more BIPOC-identifying leaders. As a result, more than 65% of Principals and Deans identify as BIPOC. I also personally coached and mentored several Deans through their pathway to principalship. I recently moved back to Chicago and am serving as the Chief Academic Officer for Regeneration Schools, supporting Principal Managers and network leadership across K-8 with multiple campuses in Chicago and Cincinnati. I grew up in Evanston, IL and hold a bachelor’s degree with honors from Georgetown University, a Masters in Teaching from American University, and a Masters in School Leadership from Columbia University Teachers College. I deeply believe in the power of education to transform lives. This starts with great teachers and leaders. I am constantly thinking about what my team can do better, how we can learn from others, and how we can build even more authentic joy and investment from our scholars. At my core, I have an unwavering belief that no matter where a scholar is from or what challenges he or she may face, a high quality education is the ultimate equalizer. I believe that all of our scholars can and will graduate from college.
