Led qualitative study of empowerment and social accountability among women’s microfinance groups in rural regions of Mali.

Stop Buruli Initiative, Optimus Foundation. Designed and oversaw multiple studies in Ghana, Benin and Cameroon concerning the key motivations for and impediments to treatment-seeking behavior for an emerging infectious disease. Transdisciplinary work involving training of social science teams in each country and close collaboration with doctors and epidemiologists in design and implementation.

Designed and led qualitative study of gender and empowerment as they relate to WFP program design, implementation and evaluation in Mali, Niger, and Chad.

Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology, Africa Initiatives Program. Led qualitative assessment of Oxfam America’s Saving for Change microfinance model for women’s groups in rural regions of Mali (Gates Foundation funding). Led second phase of the same assessment in areas where the program has not yet been implemented.

Principal investigator in a study of the effectiveness of psychosocial assessments in improving health outcomes for Darfuri refugees suffering from post-traumatic and resettlement stress. Through collaboration with multiple agencies in Kenya and in the US, designed mixed-method research tools and trained teams in both locations.
