Successful small businesses are usually working in a fire drill-driven cloud of chaos created by the exponential growth of success. In this type of environment it becomes extremely difficult for the C-Suite to develop long-term goals and align those goals with the vision and mission of the company. The day-to-day operation of the company becomes consuming and, without future planning and a focus on sustainable processes, the future success is sacrificed and a plateau is inevitable.As an operations executive it is my job to build policies, procedures, and goals into the chaos that funnel our efforts towards specific long-term goals that align with the mission of the organization. Flexibility, creativity, and patience are absolutely required to be successful.
