This involvedintegrating the Spectrum product into Apache Spark. Also, contributed to the strategy, design andimplementation of spatial capabilities into Hadoop, Spark, PrestoDB and Apache Impala. Capabilitiesimplemented include: point-in-polygon, find-nearest and search-within-distance.Individual Contributor to a data source agnostic data access engine with its own SQL dialect with spatialextensions. The engine examines the user’s query and delegates as much of it to the data source, withmiddle-tier processing to produce the correct result.Individual Contributor that helped design and implement the style and mapping model along with a rendering engine to allow the creation of map images and map tiles. The rendering engine uses the data access engine described above.Adapted the Enterprise Routing Module that ships with Spectrum so it could be used in multiple deployment scenarios like Java servlets, AWS, Docker, Spring Boot, etc.Implemented new data sources for multiple raster formats including ECW and MrSID by integrating native libraries into Java using JNI and JNA.

Integrated a text-only command line driven power generation analysis application into Microsoft Excel using Visual Basic for Applications. This allowed users to view the results of their analysis using Excel's charts and graphs. I also provided tech support, an automated help system and authored documentation.Integrated a library of specialized power analysis utilities written in FORTRAN into another application written in C. That was then further integrated via DLLs into Microsoft Excel.

Created a pseudo-3D color rendering application in Microsoft Visual C++, MFC and the Win32 API. The application loaded a monument file and allowed the user to select stone patterns to fill various areas of the monument.Created a 2D Computer Aided Design and Drafting application in Windows 95/98 using Microsoft Visual C++, MFC and x86 Assembler for optimized floating point operations. This allowed users to create monuments using standard drafting commands.Created an application that implemented a solution to the Traveling Salesman problem using Microsoft QuickBASIC and x86 Assembler. The application optimized the operation of the plotter by minimizing the movement of the plotter head and decreased blemishes in the final output.Created an automatic lettering layout application. This application allowed the user to select a font, size, location, characters etc. and place the characters in their monument.Reverse engineered the command syntax and circuit layout of a plotter from a company in Belgium and created an application that controlled the plotter. Also created an application that converted the monument file to plotter commands.Created an application written in QuickBASIC and x86 Assembler allow users a simple interface for doing file management and image viewing without having to learn DOS.
