Creative, analytical, and intensely curious, Mike Colangelo has always had a passion for looking beyond the superficial appearances and accepted facts of things in order to gain deeper insights and new perspectives. This passion is reflected in his diverse education and work experience. Starting out in the field of journalism, advertising writing, and newspaper and magazine design and layout, Mike soon found himself writing extensively about community issues, events, people, and businesses. Hoping to more accurately understand and report on the political and social events happening around him, Mike eventually enrolled at York University to earn a Specialized Honours B.A. in Global Politics. After going on to complete a Master's degree in political science, Mike spent several years in a lower level research role before enrolling in the Georgian College Research Analyst Program with the hope of acquiring more sophisticated research knowledge and skills. During this time, Mike also gained experience in program evaluation, had the opportunity to briefly work with a children and youth mental health centre, and also completed a large independent research project for a real client involving all stages of the research process. Mike has now had several great opportunities to apply his diverse background and education within the public and not-for-profit sectors, including as a Statistical Data Analyst with the Regional Municipality of York and currently while assisting an addictions and mental health charity. Mike is now seeking another exciting opportunity to help government, non-profits, or private sector businesses improve performance and success by developing new insights and perspectives through data-driven insights and storytelling, evidence-based public policy, program evaluation, and strategic marketing research.
