Senior Network Engineer

Fort Detrick

Network Engineering Technologies – Ft. Detrick, MarylandMy responsibilities include configuring hubs, switches, routers and firewalls. I utilize locally run software to monitor network performance and perform network diagnostics. I provide all tenants a core infrastructure to carry their server and end-device traffic. This infrastructure consists of an OSPF backbone with MPLS and BGP to provide VRF solutions. Representing the customer when troubleshooting with higher organizations is a main duty to make sure their traffic gets to the target destination in a secure manner. This can range anywhere from pushing a PPS through the correct channels, to a Site-to-Site VPN service. In gathering these requirements, I am responsible for getting a project plan together and handing it off to team members for implementation. I work with each member to make sure they understand the task at hand and provide technical guidance in getting the project completed. Responsible for creating network maps that show the high-level LAN and WAN. Also responsible for detailed network drawings necessary for specific local tenant traffic flows.

Network Engineer

Supported the NETMOD-C contract with VAE supporting network infrastructure standardization at all Army bases across the Continental United States. Each site consisted of three phases; Survey, Install, and Migration. The purpose of the survey is to look at all possible locations for Core network equipment. The locations need to provide ample power, fiber availability, and rack space for the hardware. The second trip was to install and configure the core equipment. The third phase is to assist the site in the migration of the edge switches. Throughout the full duration of each project we ran network scans to collect information on the network. This tool provided necessary information from the current network state to provide a successful migration to the new infrastructure. Full documentation was taken and handed to the customer of every site to provide a baseline moving forward. Lead the technical evaluation concerning the implementation of the national United States Postal Service’s Spine and Leaf project providing core network services that support business requirements.

In gathering these requirements, I am responsible for getting a project plan together and handing it off to team members for implementation. I work with each member to make sure they understand the task at hand and provide technical guidance in getting the project completed. Planned, designed, developed, and integrated the Cisco ASA 5585X Multi-Context Firewall network system infrastructure to inherit the duties of separate existing physical firewalls within the Data Center. I lead the Multi-Context project which consisted of developing the requirements necessary for the acquisition of the Cisco ASA network hardware, software version and license necessary, and services it would be supporting. Responsible for creating network maps that show the high-level LAN and WAN. Also responsible for detailed network drawings necessary for specific local tenant traffic flows.
