Prior to his tenure as Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Corbin served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq Policy at the State Department, as Minister-Counselor for Political-Military Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad from 2008 to 2009 and as Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Syria from 2006 to 2008. He served as Minister-Counselor for Economic and Political Affairs in Egypt from 2003 to 2006 and Deputy Director of the Office of Arabian Peninsula Affairs in Washington from 2001 to 2003. His first tour in Egypt was as Political-Military Affairs Officer from 1994 to 1997. After joining the Foreign Service in January 1985, he served at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia from 1985-1987 followed by service in Kuwait from 1987 to 1989. In his only assignment outside of the Arab World and Washington, he served as Director of the Counter-Narcotics Section at the Embassy in Venezuela from 1997 to 2001.
