Hello, and thank you for visiting my LinkedIn profile! I'm Michael Cortez, a dedicated Child and Family Therapist currently based in Portland, Oregon. My professional focus is to break down barriers to mental health support by providing individual and family therapy to children and adolescents aged 6-18, along with invaluable support for their caregivers. Some of my current responsibilities include (but are not limited to):•Conducting routine psychosocial assessments on children and adolescents to determine appropriate DSM-V diagnosis, needed supports, and appropriate interventions to provide evidence-based practices in treating various mental health disorders.•Developing and maintaining individual treatment plans while incorporating and integrating assessment data from other professionals and caregivers involved in the client’s care to determine the most appropriate goals and objectives for treatment. •Providing therapeutic consultations to outpatient team members and the client’s cooperating systems (school, family, legal, etc.), to coordinate and facilitate treatment interventions on behalf of the client and their family. •Consulting with various mental health agencies and community partners in developing, coordinating, and facilitating community-based support systems and services for clients and their families. •Providing conflict resolution and crisis intervention assistance by integrating risk assessments, safety planning, and harm reduction practices to families and clients as needed.•Developing psychoeducational trainings and group curriculum to extend mental health services beyond the clients and their families into the schools to provide skills training and services for teachers, administrators, and children not enrolled in treatment. •Attaining proficiency in various therapeutic modalities by attending in-person and remote trainings to provide the most effective clinical intervention for addressing each client’s individual needs.I am a professional eager to learn and develop competency in my craft.
