Growing up, I was my dad and grandpa's shadow. They were both in construction and it always brought a smile to my face while visiting them on jobsite seeing everything getting built. As a kid putting stuff together and seeing it come to life was the greatest satisfaction, whether it was Legos, IKEA furniture, or setting up a new gaming console. Over the years I found myself becoming more and more interested in computers. I became the go-to guy in the family when it came to technology assistance. When I was in high school I knew that I wanted to go into engineering, but it wasn't until my junior year that I took a computer science class and that was it. My love of technology and building made the decision easy and I knew where I was headed.Now as a software engineering student I get the pleasure of spending my time in the robotics lab at California Baptist University. I joined the robotics team my second year in the engineering program and got promoted to lead programmer within a two months. My team and I get to design, build, and program two new robots every year to compete with other colleges. My coursework has taught me design, project management, data structures, databases, algorithms and more. Even with all my classes and time in the robotics lab I still find the time to volunteer building theater sets for my old high school. The best part is that I get to do this with my dad who has inspired me my whole life. My time in college has only made me more excited to one day join the working world of engineers.
