I worked in the Department of Chemistry Stock Room. I was in charge of keeping items in stock, and selling items to professors and research groups that came in as well as settling up unpaid bills with organizations working on credit. I also had to deal with a lot of hazardous chemicals and their various safety procedures as I poured them from larger containers into smaller ones that could be sold. In the summers my boss would leave me in charge with a couple of students working under me when he took vacation and the management was left to me.

*Promoted to Student Manager in August of 2005As a student manager group we were in charge of setting the schedule for scheduling of work shifts, working with Kronos software to approve time sheets, and filling in any gaps left in the work force. Our particular dinning hall operated 3 different businesses and as a manager we had to be well versed in all 3 and be able to manage them at any time (A buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner, full service restaurant for lunch and dinner, and Pizza Delivery for late night). We also occasionally were charged with working special events such as game days, reunion weekends, and helping out other Food & Guest services as needed. We were also charged with interviewing and terminating other students when those times arose.

We were mostly tasked with working on replacing large tiles that went under parts of road to allow for water flow as well as the construction of runoff drains. We would also repave areas of the road, flag traffic, and any other manual labor needed at the time.
