Work with Council members and Chair Stuart Altman to identify topics on health care economics and policy for forums. Annual meetings are held in Washington and a three-day conference in Princeton New Jersey on the most pressing health care topics of the day. This position includes writing, commissioning, and editing research on a wide range of state and national health policy and finance issues.

Work with board of directors to develop, plan and fund a series of health policy forums on issues of concern to state legislators, health plans, hospitals, providers, consumers, business and others concerned about health care in Massachusetts. This position includes writing, commissioning, editing and presenting research on a wide range of health policy issues that impact the state.

Monitored state activity and provided technical assistance in the area of Medicaid eligibility, managed care, and state health care reform initiatives. This position began with a two-year executive appointment as a Presidential Management Intern.

Member of the Low Income and Non-working Families work group. Worked on a cross cutting group dealing with administrative mechanisms for providing subsidies to families and individuals with low incomes. This assignment entailed drafting policy options for senior White House staff. As a member of the Health Care Task Force Speakers Bureau, I addressed groups in New England and throughout the country.

Worked for the office of Senator Donald Reigle, Chair of the Senate Finance Committee Subcommittee on Health for Families and the Uninsured. Responsibilities included staffing Congressional Hearings, formulating policy options and developing legislative amendments. Issue areas of responsibility included: the impact of reform on children and vulnerable populations, graduate medical education, business concerns, cost containment and financing.

As a legislative aide, I worked on special projects in the area of health and human services and the environment. Responsibilities included assisting in the initiation, development, introduction and passage of legislative proposals.
