CodeClan is a 16 week intensive course designed around training people up to be a software developer. This involves learning in a classroom environment to paired programming and allowing self learning to develop your own skills further. Languages Covered: Ruby, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java.Technologies Integrated: Git, GitHub, PostgreSQL, Sinatra, Node.js, Webpack, Express, MongoDB, Using API’s within JavaScript. Using Spring boot including MongoBd, H2 and Spring Security.Skills and Principles: Test driven development, Agile working, RESTful routes, Paired and Mob programming.

In my role as a fraud advisor I serviced all credit card fraud calls for Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland & Sainsbury’s bank (until June 2018). This involved dealing with fraud claims of various amounts from a few pounds to thousands of pounds. Ensuring these were correctly raised and the customer was aware how long a refund and new card would take. Due to Sainsbury’s bank being dealt with differently from the other brands all the systems and processes for dealing with these accounts were different. Such as the questions asked, the systems used and even the computer used to run those systems. This involved switching between two computers on the same monitor and to be able to swap the way I would navigate these systems on the fly as often I would have to swap back and forth after every call.

At Carr Gomm my duties were to access voicemails from the previous night and pass on important messages, answer the phone and pass the person on to the required department or take a message if they were busy. I was also responsible for sorting and distributing the mail, ensuring that each letter reached the correct department, I was also responsible for franking outgoing mail as either first or second class, and as special deliveries. While not answering calls I was required to maintain the list of mobile phones within the company, keep track of their location, monitor who was using them and attribute costs to the correct cost centre. I also sorted the monthly bills into cost centres for payment.

At SCRT I created welcome packs for new clients and new staff, making sure these all complied with the template provided. I also assisted with the reorganisation of the filing system to ensure this was up to date and matched with the computer records. I managed the former and current computer records of clients and staff, ensuring that any entries that were no longer needed were deleted as these contained personal details.

At B & M I refilled the shelves with stock on a daily basis, rearranging it to make room for new products, or for large displays of products on offer, removing any overflow items into the stock room and placing them in the right section. I was also responsible for ensuring that all the stock was at the front of the selves, correctly aligned and appropriately ticketed. These tasks were performed in every department of the shop.

At British Heart Foundation my duties were tagging donated clothes, steam cleaning them and making them ready for the shop floor. I assisted with the management of the books section, alphabetising and ensuring that they were in the correct category in the stock room, as well on the shop floor. I also dealt with a large number of donated items during rotation between stores and would do the weekly rotation of clothes and books in the shop.

At Young Scot I went out on school visits to provide information sessions on the Young Scot card and their new reward scheme. I also attended a number of public events in parks handing out surveys and information on Young Scot services. I filmed a short piece on some of the nominees and why they were nominated and this was then edited and shown at the awards show in Glasgow. I was in charge of keeping the database of contact details for Commonwealth Youth Legacy Ambassadors, making sure every ambassador had their own games legacy account. I was also tasked with updating the session plans with new information regarding activities and to make sure they matched the Curriculum for Excellence criteria.
