Supervise a small Special Investigations Vehicle Theft Unit. Responsible for ensuring personnel are adhering to departmental policy and law while conducting tactical operations and investigations. As the supervisor, I conduct pre-operation briefings, coordinate resources, oversee criminal investigations, and assign and review criminal cases prior to presentation for prosecution. The cases include: vehicle theft, identity theft, investigating crimes on state property, internal investigations, officer involved shootings, critical incident investigations. The Warrant Service Team, typically eight to ten Operators including the supervisor are utilized primarily for high risk entries. As one of three supervisors of the Warrant Service Team, I review search and/or arrest warrants prior to the Judge signing. Once signed, I prepare the Warrant Service Teams Pre-Operation Check list and Operation Plan. I review all training records, schedule training days, coordinate the training, and coordinate quarterly training to include undercover operations, officer safety, building searches, undercover officer safety, auto theft training, weapons training, and Peace Officers Standards and Training requirement. I meet with investigators on a daily basis to discuss details of ongoing cases and once a week the investigators provide details summarizing activities of ongoing and future cases. Once a month the Unit Commander is presented with an update of current cases and investigators case logs. I monitor each Investigators monthly progress or lack of progress on monthly documentation. An Annual Performance Appraisal is completed each year and documents both positive and negative comments.
