WRITING COACH & EDITORMy passion is helping people improve as writers. Writing is my primary discipline, and tutoring and editing has been my primary work for more than a decade. I am not just a writing coach: I am an educated writer with 20 years of professional experience. I offer short-term coaching or long-term student-centered skills development. Academivmcally, I specialize in explaining grammar, stucture and writing strategies in a way that makes sense to the student. Most importantly, I challenge each student to reach the next level according to his or her ability, not according to some pre-defined rubric or test standard. Part of my work throughout the year involves editing dissertations, books, and other academic papers for graduate students, professors, and authors. TEST PREP EXPERTIn 2003 I become a full time English tutor, specializing primarily in Writing and Test Preparation (English: SAT, AP, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, TOEFL, and CBEST.) I've developed my own systematic strategies for standardized tests, which I've annually fine-tuned based on student feedback. Using these techniques, I've helped hundreds of San Gabriel Valley area students raise their SAT scores by several hundred points. MY STUDENTSOver the past twenty years, I have assisted English and ESL students from a broad range of ages, nationalities, and academic disciplines. Though most of my students range between 6th and 11th grade, I’ve taught children as young as five years old, seniors in their seventies, and professionals at every age in between. They have been from China, Hong Kong, Russia, Korea, Japan, Iran, Mexico, Brazil, Lebanon, France, and the United States. My students have been accepted into top universities like Princeton, Dartmouth, USC, UCLA, and UC Berkeley. Several have earned distinctions: accepting internships at excellent companies, earning graduate degrees, and passing the bar exam.
