Under the direction of the Parks, Community Programs and Services Director, manages all parks capital improvement projects through the design, permitting and construction process. Provides management, alignment, and division oversight to Parks Maintenance division. Prepares grant applications and administration of grant awards for park improvement and park acquisition projects. Assists the Director with the update and management of the comprehensive parks’ capital plan as well as setting department and division goals and objectives.
Park Operations Manager
Plan, schedule, coordinate and conduct the construction, maintenance and repair of City parks, sport fields and buildings located on those assigned properties.Develop, identify, and prioritize division needs and program initiatives for consideration by the Parks & Recreation Director. Develop and implement policies, procedures and practices.Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; set work priorities and monitor progress; prioritize, assign and review work to assure efficient division operations. Evaluate expertise levels of staff and coordinate training opportunities to improve technical ability as needed. Assist with interviewing and selection procedures; recommend promotions, salary increases, discipline and terminations as appropriate.Provide administrative functions including budget preparation and implementation; review and recommend approval of budget expenditure requests; provide updates of division activity to the Director; prepare division budget line item expenditures based on division staffing levels and estimated cost of operation; prepare revenue details for inclusion in the City budget. Control and monitor expenses within budget; purchase materials and supplies according to established policies and procedures; review specifications; write specifications for vendors to obtain quotes; make recommendations for purchases. Communicate with a variety of City departments, outside organizations, local businesses and the public to address service complaints, concerns, issues and requests; provide information regarding division activities; answer telephone inquiries related to parks maintenance and schedules; coordinate maintenance with Recreation division staff. Monitor and evaluate needed and completed grounds and Parks facilities repairs and assure work complies with quality standards. Represent the City in the management of garden improvement projects. Active member of Highline Botanical Garden Board of Directors.
