Instructed and mentored Computer Science students in a typical classroom setting, through office hours, as well as course-wide study/help sessions. Maintained course curriculum in accordance with ABET accreditation standards and consultation with other faculty. Duties shifted to full time Assistant Teaching Professor in January 2018 (to include student advising, sponsorship of student organizations, assisting with PRO days, etc.). Teaching load has included the following courses: Discrete Math (CS 1200), Intro to C++ Programming (CS 1570), Databases and Intro to File Systems (CS 2300), Algorithms (CS 2500), Software Engineering I (CS 3100), Programming Languages and Translators (CS 3500), Operating Systems (CS 3800), and Database Systems (CS 5300).

Assisted various Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) projects as needed, providing code, algorithms, data, and additional scientific research and oversight. Researched and wrote SBIR, STTR, and Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) proposals and acted as co-investigator on various projects ranging from SBIR/STTR Phase I through Phase III, focusing on scientific and technical design and research challenges. Authored and co-authored numerous technical documents and publications both internal and external, covering project aspects (such as reports) as well as scientific advancements (conference proceedings and technical reports).

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant I created and graded lab assignments in line with the complementing lecture course. I was responsible for supervising and assisting students with problems during lab as well as office hours.As a Graduate Research Assistant, I worked with students and faculty in multiple departments under the National Science Foundation's Integrative Graduate Education and Research Training (IGERT) program. Research included cooperative development with Electrical Engineering faculty and students to develop a Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) setup to regulate power flow across a power grid. My contributions included assisting with analysis, writing, and optimization of software, writing papers, and participating in general group discussions. I initiated and maintained the group’s code repository server and related services beginning in early 2004 and oversaw its subsequent transition onto University IT systems.

I primarily problem-solved and repaired PC hardware and software problems on various university-owned machines. Worked in cooperation with other staff members in the maintenance of network hardware and software. Assisted with campus-wide wireless network testing and distribution of wireless technology to the students in the fall of 2000.I briefly assisted in administration of Buena Vista University’s Solaris/Unix production servers including the primary web server. Administered accounts, backups, and assisted with a server transition.In my last few months, I developed and implemented new Access 2000/XP database applications. Converted and updated existing databases in Access 2000 and Microsoft SQL 2000.

I converted out-dated database programs and created new databases with Microsoft Access 97 and Visual Basic/SQL-accessible databases. Released 3/01 due to lack of funds.
