Principal Software Engineer
Currentcontinued from before, promoted to recognize both the breadth and depth of my applicable experience and knowledge, as well as the breadth of work I do across the company. While I remain a core member of the Startpage dev team, I also often engage in cross-team collaborative efforts and projects with multi-team and company-wide impacts:- improved our experiment result analysis processes through mentorship and teaching opportunities- assisted several teams with infrastructure migration projects (e.g. moving from docker to kubernetes, from threaded application designs to asynchronous, helping the newly formed QA team understand the applications they need to test, helping various infrastructure teams better understand what the linux kernel is doing to them)- led, worked directly on, and assisted with, a wide variety of cost-saving initiatives across the company- I have earned a reputation for giving high quality and useful feedback on code reviews, as well as being more willing than most to give code reviews, even across teams- I also have a reputation for being very approachable and so I also (usually informally) mentor a number of engineers on an ad-hoc basis- I also take on a lot of inter-disciplinary communication, working closely with product/project/marketing managers on a wide variety of levels. I am often called into technical conversations to provide engineering context, and facilitate communication between people and groups with differing levels of technical understanding
