Michael Gutmann worked on PC, Internet and digital multimedia technologies for over thirty years. For some twenty years, he was a project manager, software architect and programmer at Intel Corporation. He was a primary contributor to Videoconferencing and IP Telephony strategy at Intel, which led to the standardization of those technologies in the early 2000s and an array of new IP products, foreshadowing their ubiquitous deployment today. He is the co-author of 10 patents in areas of video conferencing, digital video and computer architecture. Mike has a BS degree in Math and an MS degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Technology, University of Minnesota. Over the last ten years Mike has focused on applying statistics to the financial markets, and in this regard has been a regular contributor to Futures Magazine, is the author of a popular text on electronic futures trading, a new book (2022) on automated trading, and taught statistics at the University of Portland, Portland, Oregon.
