Below is the Mission and Vision statement of the organization I have chosen to work and volunteer with, All Hands and Hearts. While it says everything about them, it is also very much of what I believe about myself in trying to carry a clear message to those I coach and mentor. What we do says much about who we are and the kind of people we want to be. Being a leader anywhere is about personal character. If our goal is to continually work to improve our character we cannot help but be successful. This organization works diligently to to improve not just what they do but improve who they are. Sometimes there are leaps but more often the improvements are incremental, small deliberate steps, but always with the goal of moving forward. That's why I am here and who I want to be.MISSION:All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response efficiently and effectively addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. By listening to local people, and deploying our unique model of engaging volunteers to enable direct impact, we rebuild safe, resilient schools, homes and other community infrastructure.VISION:Through volunteer and community engagement, we aim to help families recover faster after natural disasters using our “smart response” strategy. By rebuilding in a disaster resilient way, we prepare them for future events and, through the process, strengthen both volunteers and communities.
