Business critical management of Colas UK's Product's depot based in Birmingham.

My role as the company Sales Development Manager involves controlling all aspects of the sales performance of the business. This included, setting targets for each round, measuring and giving feedback on all performance metrics, ensuring any and all credit is collected, creating and implementing a full induction and training package as well as the day to day management of the whole team through team leaders. From time to time I was required to run the entire business operation in the absence of the company directors. This involved dealing directly with suppliers as well as ensuring complete compliance with all food safety and health and safety requirements.

My role as Territory manager for McCurrach on behalf of a Nestlé was a field based sales role, covering a large area of the West of England and Wales. The primary basis of the job is visiting and auditing a range of convenience stores run by Tesco, Sainsburies and the Co-Operative. I reviewed stores compliance to agreed promotional activity, as well as training store managers on upcoming new product launches and ensuring Nestlé ranged products have the optimum positioning in store. As this is a field based role, I worked very much on my own initiative, being required to keep accurate and auditable records, preparing and presenting case studies and sharing best practices with other managers and retailers whilst ensuring compliance to competition law. Additionally I was tasked with increasing Nestlé's market share in the confectionery and coffee market, by leveraging additional space on shelf and displays by using a wide range of visual tools and sales data to sell the benefits of the Nestlé brand.

My duties at the British Heart Foundation F&E are to effectively merchandise donated stock, to present a clean and inviting retail environment, and to return as much capital as possible from the sales of donated goods back to the BHF charity. I am responsible for 3 paid members of staff, and the retention of volunteers. I also proactively source stock from local retailers as well as arranging with marketing companies for the distribution of leaflets in the local area.

Cheltenham

At Staples Cheltenham my primary requirement was to turn one of the lowest achieving KPI stores in the company into a viable, profitable and forward looking business unit. Using the experience gained in my previous role at Gloucester, I have created a successful team of customer and revenue focused sales staff, through a combination of specific targeted KPI's and on the job/one to one coaching sessions. I have delivered a training program, integrated with an online learning exchange to reinforce product knowledge and to move staff from a position of an 'order taker' to that of a 'trusted advisor' in order to provide a better overall solution to customers needs and to maximise the revenue stream into store. From FY07 to FY10, Cheltenham store had increased it's year on year actual sales numbers delivered back to the company, by an average of 7%, despite the adverse trading conditions the market is currently in
