For 12 years on active duty in the U.S. Army, I honed the leadership skills that made me a successful officer. Under intense pressure and tight deadlines, I met and exceeded my superiors' expectations and inspired soldiers to reach higher standards and excel in their careers. I created and successfully implemented numerous programs to streamline the operations of organizations in which I served, freeing up time and resources to better accomplish goals.I believe in leading by example and in giving those under me clear guidance and the space they need to do what they do best. I earned a MBA with a concentration in government contracting and acquisitions from American Military University and graduated with honors.

As Operations Officer for 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, at Fort Benning, Georgia, I developed and implemented systems for improving the flow of information throughout our organization. I also served as voting assistance officer for the battalion and was responsible for ensuring that 880 individuals understood their voting rights, how to register and vote absentee, and for providing accurate nonpartisan voting information and assistance.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:► Created a centralized system for communicating policies to our personnel at all levels; these included EO/EEO, safety, and sexual harassment prevention. ► Developed and implemented a new voter assistance program that was adopted by higher echelons.

For six months, I served with Joint Task Force Bravo at Soto Cano Air Base in Honduras. I maintained relationships with key leaders in the U.S. Embassy and composed reports for the four-star general in charge of United States Southern Command.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:► I oversaw the transportation of over 1,400 foreign national military personnel and 40,000 pounds of cargo, empowering the Honduran government to counter transnational organized crime. ► Coordinated 15 lifesaving emergency actions and three extraditions, improving the quality of life of Hondurans.

After receiving my commission as a second lieutenant from Officer Candidate School in 2009, I held a variety of increasingly challenging leadership positions. I served as a platoon leader, executive officer and senior protocol escort officer at Fort Irwin, California, before being transferred to Fort Benning, Georgia, where I commanded a company that conducted Infantry basic training for new privates. During this time, I also completed a professional development course where I learned how to use processes to make informed decisions under stressful conditions to lead and motivate large teams.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:► As senior protocol escort officer at Fort Irwin, I planned and coordinated visits of over 150 distinguished American and foreign dignitaries and received numerous accolades from institutes of higher learning and foreign senior leaders.►I created and successfully implemented a new physical fitness program for 800 new Army privates, resulting in a 44 percent increase in individual fitness scores.►As company commander, I successfully trained 800 new privates, 87 percent of whom attained expert mortar firing proficiency status, representing a 25 percent increase over organizational goals.

My first assignment as an active-duty U.S. Army soldier was as a helicopter mechanic at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia. During my four years in this position, I was promoted to the rank of sergeant and entrusted with leading a team of five soldiers. I supervised and mentored them in proper helicopter maintenance techniques and procedures for aircraft turbine engines. I was also responsible for managing over 600 different turbine engine repair components. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:► I supervised over 350 hours of engine maintenance, ensuring 100 percent of repairs were completed on time.►I was accountable for over $200,000 in maintenance equipment, with zero losses.► I revamped the engine shop test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) program, increasing shop efficiency by 10 percent.
