Purchase Engineer
CurrentI work as a Purchase Engineer at Electronics Devices WorldWide Private Limited, a reputable manufacturer and exporter of induction heating equipment and related goods. Our machinery is known for its sturdy construction and energy efficiency, making it ideal for high-volume scan hardening of cylindrical-shaped items. Equipped with a programmable logic controller (PLC) and high-speed index capability, our induction heating devices can be customized to meet client specifications. In my role, I efficiently prepare purchase orders using ERP systems and source IGBT components from authorized suppliers to fulfill production requirements. I negotiate prices and explore alternative suppliers for components such as PCBs, toroidal cores, capacitors, and ferrite cores to achieve significant cost savings. I collaborate closely with the sales team to forecast supply needs on a weekly basis.Additionally, I resolve various issues related to rejections, rework, vendor payments, and customs inquiries. I manage the procurement process with international suppliers, coordinating with forwarders, Customs House Agents (CHA), and transporters to ensure smooth logistics. To streamline order scheduling, particularly for long lead-time items like semiconductors, I develop and maintain a scheduling system. I also conduct direct negotiations with the marketing teams of manufacturers like Kemet and Macmic,During supply disruptions, I collaborate with manufacturers, specifically Macmic and Bastek, to ensure continuity of supply. Furthermore, I directly procure items such as fan motor drives, gears, displays, and water pumps from manufacturers. By implementing future planning based on forecasting, I ensure uninterrupted production and minimize delays for long lead-time and imported items.I maintain regular coordination with the R&D team, understanding their requirements, exploring cost reduction opportunities, and continuously improving supply processes to support their innovation efforts.
