At Hubtiger, I am responsible for developing and maintaining our bike shop management system and app. I play multiple roles in the team by looking after our Azure environment, databases, backend (API) development, front-end development, integration, and various apps. This monitoring system started when I entered the idea into an internal competition. I won first place for the idea and it became my job to design the system and create it. It evolved over time as our network grew and served as the core monitoring system for many of… Show more • Designed and developed systems around process automation.• My main duty was to design, develop and maintain an in house monitoring system that monitored just about everything from servers right down to routers on the network. This monitoring system started when I entered the idea into an internal competition. I won first place for the idea and it became my job to design the system and create it. It evolved over time as our network grew and served as the core monitoring system for many of our large clients. The network consisted of around 400 remote sites using diginet lines or satellite connections that were all monitored. There were also in the region of around 200 servers being monitored. The monitoring system consisted of the following parts:1. Server Monitoring2. Network Monitoring3. Satellite Monitoring4. Cisco’s RTR - (this was a feature on cisco routers that allowed you to measure the response times from one point to another in various classes of service e.g. gold, silver, bronze etc. I created an interface into the routers that would easily allow you to configure hundreds of routers with little effort. I also created the interface to display/report on the response times.)5. Cisco’s Netflow - (This on its own was a huge challenge because the database grew by around 1 TB per month.)6. Quality of Service7. Backup Portal - (We could also generate live and up to date reports on the SLA of backups. This helped bring the failure rate from around 30% to around 5% or less.)• Managed 2 other developers who were later employed to help with my work load and minimize the risk.• I was part of the network team for a short while before I started the monitoring system.
