Michael MarkiewiczMichael Markiewicz was born in 1986 and raised in Staten Island, New York. Michael is truly a survivor. At the young age of 16, Michael was diagnosed with cancer, which caught him and his family by surprise. After two surgeries and a ninety six percent chance the cancer would not return, it returned to his right lung. Michael started chemotherapy on his 17th birthday. After a year-long battle with testicular cancer and an additional surgery, he was pronounced cancer-free.Michael has always believed he was given a second chance at life for a reason, and vowed to never take that for granted. He always had a love for the entertainment business, but had no idea how, or what to do, to get started. Starting from the ground floor, Michael began studying legends such as Bette Davis, and Humphrey Bogart; and also looking to legendary entertainment businessmen, Walt Disney as inspiration. With a clear understanding of his path, Michael began taking jobs as an extra because he knew it would be a great opportunity to study how film and television operate, not only on camera, but behind the scenes as well.One of Michael’s first jobs was a small part in Mr. Steven Spielberg’s film War of the Worlds. Michael then began submitting his resume to student and independent films through Backstage and Craigslist. He gained a wealth of knowledge collaborating with students from NYU and the New York Film Academy learning every facet of what goes into making content. Michael began studying with New York acting coach Penny Templeton. Shortly thereafter, Michael made his producing debut on the feature film The Reunion which featured The Sopranos star Joseph Gannascoli. Working his way through the entertainment business, Michael was scouted and placed with one of the biggest Modeling agencies in the world, Wilhelmina Models.Soon thereafter, Michael booked a leading role as Joseph Caruso in the feature film Joe’s War which starred acting legends Armand Assante, Ed Asner, and Tom Sizemore. Additionally, Michael starred in the TV Land series Forever Young produced by Ashton Kutcher. Michael has guest starred on the hit NBC show The Blacklist portraying the character “Lonnie Perkins;” Netflix’s Jessica Jones playing the role of “Ken;” and STARZ’s original series POWER playing the role of “Arnost.” Michael has also starred in the MASTERCARD Stand Up To Cancer campaign which aired nationally and internationally.
