Michael P. McCabe is a Massachusetts transportation security and emergency management leader, having directed security and emergency management functions for both the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) since 2018. In this capacity, Mr. McCabe's responsibilities have included overseeing a team of up to 30+ professionals and a combined annual operating and capital budget exceeding several million dollars across multiple public safety disciplines. Mr. McCabe's portfolio has included responsibility for maintaining 10,000+ security cameras and 3,000+ access control points, managing 120+ security guards, coordinating multiple emergency operations platforms, conducting sensitive investigations, and operating an advanced transportation security data network. Through innovation and extensive collaboration with high level law enforcement, emergency management, and other public safety stakeholders across the region, Mr. McCabe has acquired and exercises unique capabilities and insights relating to transportation infrastructure protection and preparedness. As an example, Mr. McCabe is an experienced practitioner and advocate of integrating and leveraging cutting-edge intelligence gathering, AI, and social media platforms and technologies to enhance public safety situational awareness, incident management, and threat detection. Prior to his current leadership role, Mr. McCabe's expertise and accomplishments centered on security operations and facilities management. He is the architect of both the MassDOT and MBTA security operations programs, and implemented critical statewide facility and administrative initiatives.Mr. McCabe is certified in leading security video and access control technologies and contributes actively as a member of numerous regional public safety collaboratives and organizations, including FBI Infragard, HSIN, CISA, and the AASHTO Committee on Transportation System Security and Resilience.
