An experienced data scientist and technologist with experience as part of and leading data scientists and software development teams in financial tech, healthcare tech, network security, mining and spectroscopy. This has included hands on development for scaleable cloud technologies on Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web services, using modern containerized systems and Kubernetes, novel machine learning applications to multivariate time series data in Tensorflow, and product development with scope including backend relational, timeseries, and graph databases through UI development. I typically work in problem spaces where established analytical solutions are either missing or have the potential for significant novel improvement. I apply my background in complex data analysis to a variety of domains, usually including substantial focus on scaleable and sustainable architectures that enable robust ongoing analysis in cloud environments. My initial training is in cognitive neuroscience. My academic research focuses on visual psychophysics, fMRI and retraining vision following visual cortical stroke. Much of this research is heavily programming oriented, requiring all data collection and analysis to be performed through hand-written code in Matlab and Python.
