I taught middle school for 11 years and then high school for another 30 years, and retired from public school in 2013. Since then I have been teaching at a Catholic school in New Jersey, and this job takes me on a 50 minute commute each day. I enjoy teaching; however, I would like a position closer to home. Over the course of my career I have taught freshmen to seniors at all different levels from basic skills to AP Literature and Composition. I also emphasize writing as a process in all the classes I teach. Student feed back has been positive and affirms that my methods are effective in developing students' critical thinking and writing skills. Achievements have been the satisfaction I have gained in knowing I have a positive effect on many students over the course of 50 years of teaching. I have even been in touch with many of my former students over the years, and they inform me of their successes in college and the workplace.
